Pre-requisite: Students must have satisfactorily completed CIS3002 Business Analysis and at least 16 courses including seven BITC core courses other than this course.
Rationale
This capstone course will prepare students for their future careers as ICT professionals. Using modern collaboration and communication tools, students will work in teams to complete a simulated or real-world ICT project which is realistic and challenging. This course addresses the professional body requirement for students to apply the knowledge and skills to address difficult ICT problems.
Synopsis
Students will design and deliver a solution to a real-world ICT problem through the application of technical knowledge and skills. Students will apply their project management skills to identify, analyse, generate, recommend and implement solutions to complex problems. Working within a team environment, students will reflect on their role as a member of the team and the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to achieve a successful project outcome. Furthermore, students are required to reference ICT professional codes of conduct and make appropriate judgments concerning ethical issues and cultural diversity.
Objectives
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- Analyse an ICT problem with a real industry client or simulated with an internal role or industry client and design and deliver the solution adapting appropriate planning and problem-solving skills;
- Examine an ICT problem and design a solution drawing on creativity and initiatives in network engineering, Application Development, Data Analytics, Information Systems Development, Information Technology Management or Networking and Security, and deliver solutions applying theoretical and technical ICT knowledge;
- Work effectively as a member of a team to design and deliver a solution to a complex ICT problem;
- Professionally communicate with stakeholders in an ICT project using a digital platform;
- Reflect on their individual process and experience of completing the ICT project as a member of a team;
- Apply appropriate ethical standards, professional codes of conduct and cultural considerations within the context of an ICT project.

- The industry client will be consulted regarding the projects and sign off on the project specification and scope, in collaboration with the Project Team facilitated by the Course Examiner and Project Team Advisor. This assessment will include and reference professional codes of conduct.

Requirements for student to be awarded a passing grade in the course:
To be assured of receiving a passing grade a student must achieve at least 50% of the total weighted marks available for the course. -

The final grades for students will be assigned on the basis of the aggregate of the weighted marks obtained for each of the summative assessment items in the course. -

All assignments must be submitted electronically through the course web site. Assignment submissions will not be accepted in any other form or by any other means without prior approval.

The due date for an assignment is the date by which a student's submission must be received electronically at USQ.

In accordance with University Policy, the Examiner may grant an extension of the due date of an assignment in extenuating circumstances.

Students who, for medical, family/personal, or employment-related reasons, are unable to complete an assignment or to sit for an examination at the scheduled time may apply to defer an assessment in a course. Such a request must be accompanied by appropriate supporting documentation. One of the following temporary grades may be awarded IDS (Incomplete - Deferred Examination; IDM (Incomplete Deferred Make-up); IDB (Incomplete - Both Deferred Examination and Deferred Make-up).
