Rationale
Creative Arts practitioners and researchers design and undertake specific discipline studies or hybrid projects based on their research interests within practice-led or theoretical fields. This course allows the student researcher to critically reflect on the positioning of their creative works within established theoretical and practical models providing a context for understanding for the student’s creative field of expertise.
Synopsis
Students will undertake advanced research in either practice-led or theoretical pathways - developing skills and understanding of practice through intensive studio work on an individual project. This practice is directly related to, or complements the research undertaken in SCA4000 Honours Dissertation B.
Objectives
On successful completion of this course students should be able to:
- Explore a highly individual and developed range of professional/studio research skills and/or theoretical research methodologies situated in the creative arts;
- Exercise critical, creative thinking and judgment to identify and solve intellectual problems independently;
- Use an advanced knowledge of the historical, ideological, critical, and ethical perspectives/discourses in the creative arts, in traditional, hybrid and contemporary cultural and social contexts;
