Audio is a significant part of any production and it is important for emerging industry professionals to understand all aspects of audio as it applies to film, television, radio and associated productions. Students undertaking this course will be introduced to the variety of microphones used in radio and television applications. TVR1003 will introduce the student to pro-tools as one of a number of software programs used in audio production.
Students will understand the use of foley audio, sound effects and other devices employed to enhance audio work. Manipulating, importing and working with audio is an important set of skills in both television and radio. It will introduce students to the use of a voice over booth, directing talent and use of scripts in the production of voice for commercial application. You will gain and understanding of what it is to work with audio as it is understood in sound design. The foundational knowledge gained in this course will support video and audio editing and your progress through the degree.
Synopsis
Students undertaking this course will gain an appreciation and rationale for the variety of microphones used in broadcast production. The student will learn the foundations of pro-tools through practical application of knowledge. There will be a recognition of the principles of sound design as an art form, and how that is applied in practice.
Students will learn audio for application in video and audio work, where it is used for automatic dialogue replacement, voice over work and enhancing a video or audio production.
Industry leaders in audio production will be included into the overall learning journey and will continue to give industry context to this important aspect of the media industry. Our facilities on campus will support learning for on campus students and access to some of the software will be arranged for online students.
